Nationals routed in opener

It’s only one game. It’s only one game. We can still have hope.
I just want to provide a few notes and reactions from the game. Just so you know, I listened to it on the radio and scored it (yes, I am that big of a loser).
Nyjer Morgan once again acted as a table setter for the Nationals only run. He led off the game with a single, beating out a ground ball to the short stop. He proceeded to steal second base (sliding feet first!), and scored on Ryan Zimmerman’s double off the top of he wall in right-center field. Ivan Rodriguez blooped a double in the second inning, and that was the last time until the 7th inning that the Nationals had a runner past first base. Roy Halladay ate the Nationals up. He struck out nine batters while allowing 8 hitters to reach base.
To put it simply, the Nationals didn’t pitch well and couldn’t hit the best pitcher in the National League.
Tomorrow is an off-day for the Nationals, who return to action on Wednesday night against the Phillies. Left-hander Cole Hamels will go up against righty Jason Marquis. Marquis will be making his debut as a National. There will be no live blog during the game, but I will post my thoughts following the completion of the game.
Again, Phillies vs. Nationals, 7:05 p.m. EST at Nationals Park on Wednesday. See you then.
