Jets Draft Preview: Golden Tate

As the NFL Draft approaches, I will be highlighting certain players I believe the New York Jets may select with the 29th pick.

Golden Tate

Wide Receiver

Notre Dame

5′11

195 lbs.

Strengths:  Very athletic…able to make acrobatic catches…extremely competitive

Weaknesses:  Poor route runner…lacks elite speed…not a good blocker

Analysis:  Many online mock drafts have the Jets taking Tate at their draft position, but I’m not so sure about that.  He is a smallish possession receiver with average speed who can make the occasional nice play.  That description sounds an awful lot like Jerricho Cotchery, so they really don’t need another guy to play the same role.
