Colin Fraser a.k.a Frazzle Dazzle is his nickname through various twitter and hockey board rants or perhaps a nickname made up by Chicago’s own Meg a.k.a Easton. Don’t know who this “easton” person is? You will see her on broadway one day guaranteed. Colin Fraser you ask? Well after last night I’m sure some Dallas Star fans know who he is. The rugged center-man from Sicamous (sik-a-moose), British Columbia notched a couple goals last night in a 5-2 victory over the Dallas Stars and is now in a horse race with Brent Seabrook to catch mighty sniper David Bolland’s 5 goals. All tom foolery aside the Hawks looked good through most of the game getting multiple scoring chances on relatively unknown rookie goaltender Matt Climie. Climie did however make some great saves throughout the game keeping this game from getting out of hand but on the other end of the ice the “Nieminator” made some great saves also.
Have to give Dallas some credit as they did not give up and outplayed Chicago in the second frame. Dallas only scored once on the 5 power-play opportunities with Toews tallying with a shorty on a pass from Marian Hossa coming off a 2 on 1 break. Hossa was stupendous once again scoring a great goal 36 seconds in to the game and still many people still do not know how he scored that goal. Patrick Kane notched his 30th of the season by an ingenious Adam Oates type pass from none other then super play-maker Adam Burish who had 2 apples on the night.
So after last night’s victory what does it mean? Well the Blackhawks for the first time in their history achieved a milestone of 50 wins in a season, secured no less then 2nd overall in the conference, split the season series with the Stars and the Hawks now control their own destiny if they want to finish 1st place in the Western Conference. If Chicago wins the last 3 games of the year and end up tied with San Jose then Chicago would still get first place so go get it boys.
No rest for the wicked as the Hawks entertain the thug like St.Louis Blues tonight who will surely want to dampen the Hawks chances at any more success this year by either winning the game or sending super goon Cam Janssens after another one of the Hawks players. Wouldn’t it be nice to dress Stu Grimson, Bob Probert or even Enrico Ciccone for one game tonight to pummel that one dimensional cheap shot artist freak Janssens? Nevertheless, nothing would be sweeter then demolishing the Blues and say thanks for coming out this year and enjoy your time on the Tapawingo Golf Course.
- I said I expected Huet to start tonight in yesterdays article but rumors are swirling that Niemi may go again, we may not see Christo tend the pipes this year anymore.
-Rumors here in Edmonton have the Oilers interested in upcoming UFA Ben Eager. You would think they would be concentrating on defense let alone rugged 4th liners with concussion issues.
-There was little talk about the absence of Troy Brouwer last night but he was gone for personal reasons. Let’s hope everything is OK for Troy and his family for whatever the reasons were.
-Jackman, Tkachuk and Berglund were injured and the availability of those 3 for tonight’s game is so far unknown
-Kopecky has been unreal of late and perhaps he will be the unsung hero in these upcoming playoffs.
-Hawks winning streak is now at 4 games and counting
-“We looked like a team that had been eliminated from the playoffs,” Dallas coach Marc Crawford said. Good point Marc, you are definitely that and we all appreciate you stating the obvious. (Sorry, not a Crawford fan ) How they let Tippett go as head coach I will never understand. Example: Phoenix Coyotes
- Bryan Bickell was called up from Rockford earlier, it is very possible another injury could have taken place last night so that could be the case. Or, it could be just giving him some ice for some possible playoff action. No word on Brouwer as of yet either.
Let’s go get another victory tonight Hawks!
