I received a press release from the Boston Bruins today.
*BOSTON BRUINS PRESS RELEASE*
DENNIS SEIDENBERG OUT EIGHT WEEKS AFTER UNDERGOING SUCCESSFUL SURGERY
BOSTON, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that defenseman Dennis Seidenberg will miss eight weeks after undergoing successful surgery to repair a lacerated flexor carpi radialis tendon in his left forearm. The surgery was performed by Drs. Matthew Leibman and Mark Belsky on Tuesday, April 6 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He sustained the injury during the first period of the Bruins/Maple Leafs game on Saturday, April 3.
Since being acquired by the Bruins on March 3, 2010, Seidenberg has skated in 17 games while recording two goals, seven assists and a +9 rating. He was traded from Florida to Boston with Matt Bartkowski for Byron Bitz, Craig Weller and Tampa Bay’s 2010 second round draft pick. For the season, Seidenberg has played in 79 games with Boston and Florida and tallied 4-28=32 totals and leads the NHL in blocked shots with 215.
Really, short of a miracle (or four) the Bruins aren’t lifting Lord Stanley’s mug this June. With the loss of Seidenberg, the Bruins are now without Stuart, Ference and Seidenberg.
I guess it’s time to really root against the Leafs for the final two games and if the B’s make the playoffs, then enjoy it while it lasts.
