The Los Angeles Lakers signed NBA phenom Kobe Bryant to a three-year, $84 million dollar extension that would keep him with the team through the 2013-14 season.
Kobe could have opted out of his contract and became a free agent this summer but when someone offers you that much money, you take it and run.
As Jimmy Kimmel said on his show when Kobe visited, “ Kobe has Oprah money now, actually just Oprah lunch money.”
Oprah lunch money or not, Kobe is indeed a rich man by completing one of the biggest deals in sports history.
With this deal in tact, the Lakers have a core group of Bryant, Gasol, Odom, Bynum, and Artest under contract for at least the next three seasons, meaning good old-fashioned Lakers basketball will be here for a while.
Now everyone can breathe a sigh of relief that Kobe is definitely here to stay and intends to be a Laker for life.
