The Hurricanes might be out of the playoffs, but an 8-5 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning always feels satisfying.
Eric Staal, Rod Brind’amour and Drayson Bowman each scored two goals while Jussi Jokinen and Chad Larose had a goal apiece to give the Canes their highest scoring game of the season. The two goals were Drayson Bowman’s first of his career, and Rod Brind’amour finally managed his first multi-goal game of the season last night.
With two games remaining this season (against Montreal and Boston), the Hurricanes only have two more opportunities to be a giant thorn in the side of teams fighting for playoff positions. The Canes are officially out of the post-season, and you know they would love nothing more than to drag Boston out with them.
I’m currently working on a brief history of Hurricanes captains and I hope to be finished by the end of the regular season. It will chronicle each Canes player who has worn the “C” and their impact on the team and organization. Check Back Soon!
Until then, Adieu Caniacs!
