The Reds have announced that the professional debut of Aroldis Chapman will be able to be seen live online Sunday afternoon. Chapman will throw for the AAA Louisville Bats at Toledo and fans can watch live via Reds.com and MLB.com. The game starts at 2 PM (EDT). There is no charge to view, just log in and enjoy!
The Reds are expected to option Juan Francisco to Louisville to make room for Mike Leake on the roster. Leake will make his pro debut with the start on Sunday for the Reds against Chicago’s Tom Gorzelanny. Leake will be the 21st player since the draft began in 1965, and the first since 2000, to make his pro debut in the majors. Current Cub Xavier Nady was the last to do it in 2000 for the Padres. Leake will send the cap he wears in Sunday’s game to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY following his appearance. Leake’s addition to the roster means that the Reds will have 4 of their last 6 No. 1 draft picks on the major league roster (Bailey ’04, Bruce ’05, Stubbs ’06, and Leake ’09).
Reds starter Bronson Arroyo is feeling much better after being hit by a batted ball in the 2nd inning of Thursday’s win over the Cardinals. According to Mark Sheldon’s blog at MLB.com, Arroyo said he was at 80 percent on Friday and that the anti-inflammatory medication (READ: ADVIL) is doing the job. Arroyo (0-0, 1.13) is scheduled to pitch on Tuesday night at Florida against lefty Nate Robertson (1-0, 1.80). That game will be televised nationally on MLB Network.

I'm a lifelong Cincinnati sports fan who has been following the Reds and Bengals ever since I can remember. My first Reds game was Game 6 of the '72 World Series and my first Bengals game was an October 1975 clash with the Steelers. I've been involved in sports media since Junior High, when I assisted with scores for Bob Trumpy SportsTalk in 1979 on WLW Radio. My biggest Reds highlight came in 1998 when I was chosen to be the public address announcer at Riverfront Stadium (then called Cinergy Field) for Opening Day and the entire first homestand. I am thrilled to be involved with PSB and I hope you enjoy my entries!
