Clearly not satisfied with results this year, the Atlanta Thrashers have decided to undergo a significant organizational makeover.
Head Coach John Anderson has been fired along with all of his assistant coaches, as per Kevin Allen of USA Today. GM Don Waddell has been named the team’s President and will therefore no longer serve as the team’s GM. Rick Dudley has been named the new General Manager.
With a ton of cap space available this offseason, a nice crop of prospects, 2 first round picks and plenty of roster spots to be filled, these major organizational decisions could not have come at a better time for a franchise needing a new direction.
Be sure to check Kevin Thurston’s Thrashers blog in the near future for his thoughts and analysis of what this means for the franchise going forward.
