Padres make it back to .500

Padres fans knew the drought was coming.  After their 17-2 shellacking of the Atlanta Barves, the Padres bats fell nearly silent as they dropped two straight to the Braves.  They stayed home at Petco Park, however, and proceeded to pull the hat trick – beating the Arizona Diamondbacks three games in a row.

Chase Headley made it clear that he wasn’t going to allow the post 17-run dry spell to continue at home.  Headley hit a double in Game 2 of the Arizona series to drive in two runs that sealed the game for the Padres.  And in Game 3 of the series, Headley nailed a homer to score three runs and send the D-backs back to Airzona sans a win.

The Padres pitching staff has clearly pulled together with the move of Chris Young to the 15-day disabled list.  Wade LeBlanc stepped in and his first game as a Pardre got off to a shaky start, but he smoothed things out and ultimately got the win.

Suddenly, the Padres find themselves in a three-way tie for second place in the National League West.  And tonight, they start a three-game home series against the leader of said division, the San Francisco Giants.
