Seventh man?…. Boyle own goal gives Avalanche 2-1 series lead

Heading into overtime of Game Three against the San Jose Sharks, the Avalanche could count their blessings that they were still in the game. After all, the Sharks heavily outplayed them through 60 minutes and if not for a miraculous performance from goaltender Craig Anderson, who came up with 51 saves they would not have made it anywhere near overtime.
Just as the bell tolled for one Steve Smith and Chris Phillips once upon a time, the Avalanche indeed had a seventh man on the ice, no it wasn’t some sort of spiritual being, or the fans, it was the Sharks own Dan Boyle, who perhaps managed to score the biggest own goal in hockey history. Unlike Smith and Phillips who banked pucks off the back of goalies skates,Boyle, on the other hand in an attempt (I think) to send the puck around the other side of the boards managed to throw the puck on net where a surprised Nabokov could do little but see the puck go through him and in the net.
How the Sharks recover from this is anyone’s guess but momentum and maybe fate are on the side of the Colorado Avalanche. The loss of Milan Hejduk did leave the game for the Avalanche which could prove detrimental to the Avalanche, but the whereabouts of one Dany Heatley who was scratched from the game for unknown reasons had many in the hockey community buzzing(Trade request, once again?).
With the NBA having it’s issues with the throwing of games thanks to rogue official Tim Donaghy don’t be surprised to have conspiracy theorists claim Boyle had some ulterior motive for what he did.
I for one, am ready for Game Four….
