Ding Ding Dong

Ding, ding, dong goes Atlanta with a 9th inning come from behind victory over division rival Philadelphia. The Braves trailed 3-0 in the bottom of the 9th inning with little hope. Chipper Jones drew a 1 out walk with Brian McCann flying out leaving the Braves down to their final at-bat. Troy Glaus was booed earlier in the game for grounding into a double play with the bases loaded, but not this time around. With 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th Glaus delivered with a 2 run home run to pull Atlanta within 1 run. First off I need to address the Atlanta fan base. Please lay off Troy Glaus the guy is a stud who has been plagued by injuries, and is now healthy! If the Braves hope to make a playoff run this guy needs the support of everyone, and he totaly deserves it.

After the drama settled with Glaus’s 9th inning bomb there was a lot more to unfold. 20 year old future rookie of the year Jason Heyward wasted little time feeding off Glaus’s adrenaline by belting another moon shot home run to tie the ball game. This kid is a FREAK!!! That pitch was at the shoe laces, and he looked like Vlad in his prime. I just ordered my #22 Heyward jersey how about you? I will admit I am getting a little sick of hyping this kid up, but he does something more impressive every single game.

Not to be outdone the Braves struggling center field turned out to be tonights hero. Nate McLouth belted a lead off walk off homer in the bottom of the 10th inning to end it. As he rounded the bases, and headed back to the dugout McLouth realized the bench was empty. The entire Atlanta team booked it into the locker room! These guys are winning, and they’re having a lot of fun doing it. I can almost promise you there was a shaving cream pie waiting for him in the clubhouse. I have not been this excited for an Atlanta ball club since their 1995 World Series win over Cleveland. Veterans, rookies, and pitching OH MY.

Tommy Hanson went 4.2 innings giving up 2 runs on 6 hits in a decent outing. Billy Wagner got credited with the win pitching a perfect 10th. The Braves bullpen has to be happy with themselves as of late. They have been coming in and absolutely killing rallies. Atlanta continues their final 2 games of the series tomorrow night and Thursday.
