M’s Teach Pitching 101

Posted By Shane Hoopfer On Apr 22 2010 @ 12:43 pm In Seattle Mariners | No Comments

Four runs against in their three game set against the Baltimore Orioles paved the way to a sweep for the Seattle Mariners. Doug Fister, and Jason Vargas both went seven innings giving up one earned run each in the first two games of the series resulting in 8-2 and 3-1 victory’s respectively.

follow that up with Felix Hernandez scattering 9 hits over a complete game 4-1 win over Baltimore last night in which Felix gave up those 9 hits and one unearned run, while striking out six! Jack Wilson provided the final blow for the M’s hammering a three run double to give the M’s that 4-1 lead, and Hernandez did the rest.

With the sweep the Seattle Mariners have moved into a tie for top spot in the AL West with the A’s who have had their hands full with the Yankees. As the old saying goes you can’t win the division in April and May but you can sure lose it!

Starting Friday Seattle travels to Chicago for a three game set in the windy city. If the M’s can keep getting solid starts from the rotation it will give the bats some more time to get their stride. The M’s will also get a boost to the staff in the next couple of weeks with the impending return of Cliff Lee from the DL.

Have a good one!
