Habs Call Up PK for the PP

According to TEAM 990 in Montreal, PK Subban has been recalled by the Montreal Canadiens. Subban, a 2nd round pick in 2009, has been one of the top defensemen in the AHL this year, putting up impressive numbers in his rookie year with 18 goals – 35 assists – 53 points in 77 games. He was also a +46. Subban played in 2 games for the Canadiens this year, recording 2 assists.

To those who suggest that this move should have been made a long time ago; understand that the Hamilton Bulldogs are in the playoffs and re-calling PK Subban would have been detrimental to that team. The Bulldogs beat the Manitoba Moose last night to win their series in 6 games, which explains why Montreal waited until this morning to make the call.

Assuming the reports are true, PK will likely see some big minutes on the struggling Montreal powerplay. It is unknown at this time who will sit, but the logical choice is Marc-Andre Bergeron, who has struggled in the playoffs with 1 assist and a -8 plus/minus rating in 5 games. I will update this post when details are more clear.
