Rays Take 2 of 3 from Jays, Move on to A’s

Led by David Price’s four-hit complete game shutout, Tampa Bay won the rubber match in the weekend series with the Jays.

Toronto eked out game 1, 6-5, after a wild start by Matt Garza, who surrendered four runs in the first. The Rays’ rally in the seventh and eighth came up short on Friday, but Saturday they ripped apart Toronto’s hapless bullpen.

Toronto starter Ricky Romero gave up just two runs in seven innings on Saturday but Scott Downs and Casey Janssen allowed seven runs between them in relief as the Rays won 9-3.

Tampa Bay definitely showed that it can wait out a quality starter to feast on bad relief pitching and that will serve it well through the season.

The Rays have won their last four series and are looking to make it five. Wade Davis takes the mound against Ben Sheets. In his season debut Davis gave up four runs in a 10-0 loss to the Yankees, and has been a bit inconsistent since then.

At this point, everything is looking up for the Rays this year.
