The second round is upon us for the second consecutive year here in Boston. It’s a big deal here as the playoff history isn’t all the great since Mario and company dismissed the B’s in 1992. The Bruins have not advanced past this round since that ’92 drubbing by the Pens and have only got here four times (1994, 1999, 2009, 2010) in almost twenty years.
As expected, Tuukka Rask and Brian Boucher led the teams out of their respective rooms. Marc Savard is out there for the pre game warm ups as is Shawn Thornton. The rumour here is Thornton will sit but with guys like Carcillo, Hartnell and Asham I think that’s a mistake but I’m siiting 9 floors above the ice. What do I know?
The Bruins have been off since Wednesday and Philly hasn’t played since April 22nd when they dismissed the Devils in G5 of their series.
The two teams haven’t met in the playoffs since 1978. Kate Smith is still dead, right? I do remember her as a kid.
If you’re inside on this beautiful day watching the game, join me and post your thoughts and comments as the game goes along.
Starting lineups to follow…
