Sami Salo Injury Update

In game 5 of the series between Vancouver and Chicago, every man in the world cringed when they saw Canucks defenseman Sami Salo get hit in the groin (or as Ron Burgundy would say, “right in the baby-maker”) and then rushed to the hospital. Fortunately, Salo’s doctor was on the ball and it looks like Sami Salo will be alright. He’s just lucky he won’t be nicknamed Sami Solo. When asked to reflect back and discuss how he would have been affected had one of his testicles been removed, Salo said “that would have been devastating, but at least I still would have had more balls than Colin Campbell.”

The Canucks players were very worried about their teammate. In fact, Kyle Wellwood told one reporter “I feel terrible for Sami. I would be so pissed if I lost one of my nuts.” Wellwood later retracted his remarks when he realized the question about Salo’s nuts was about a body part, not food.

It is also rumored that when Gary Bettman found out about the injury, he told Salo’s doctors to inject 2 more testicles. No one was surprised by Bettman’s ridiculous suggestion, as most people know he is a big fan of irrational expansion down South.

The Vancouver Canucks have released the following statement regarding Sami Salo’s injury status:

“Sami Salo is day-to-day with a lower body injury, although at times, depending on the time of day and how excited Sami is, we may need to change the description to an upper body injury.”

Canucks fans – rest assured that Sami Salo will make a full recovery. There’s no need to get testy.
