Well that was interesting. Ken Griffey Jr. was accused by a couple of his teammates (who shall remain anonymous) of being asleep in the club house while the Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu was looking for a pinch hitter Tuesday night! Both Wakamatsu and Griffey have denied this publicly, but if you read between the lines perhaps nap time should be scheduled for a different part of the day.
I don’t know if the rumors are true or not, however it wouldn’t shock me either way. The Mariners have enough problems right now that this is the last thing that they need. If Griffey was napping then he should be fined and suspended by the team. If this isn’t true and a couple players are trying to stir up some trouble then they need to be fined and suspended. Either way this needs to stay in house.
By the way Cliff Lee is good! 7 1/3 last night against the Orioles (at least that’s a team the M’s can beat) giving up a run on eight hits while striking out two during Seattle’s 5-1 win to even his record at 1-1 in his third start of the young season. The win bumped the Mariners up to 13-19 and keeps them in the hunt only 4.5 games behind Oakland and Texas in the AL West.
Have a good one!
