First off, we will be doing a breakdown of each RFA and UFA on the Ottawa Senators roster starting tomorrow. So please come back and check the latest rumours and info we continue to get out there before most if not all the mainstream media in Ottawa!
Secondly, it looks as though Anton Volchenkov has definitely played his last game in a Ottawa Senators uniform as his house went up for sale today. This is 100% confirmed and not a rumour!!
Even if Volchenkov took a hometown discount like his last contract, Sens GM Bryan Murray is looking at paying him a minimum of 4 million per year on a longterm deal. With the Sens salary cap situation, it is next to impossible to fit the longtime Senator under the cap.
I have been told the NY Rangers will do everything possible to get Volchenkov signed, even if it means burying Wade Redden’s contract in the AHL. Naturally the other team with high interest is the Washington Capitals. But from everything I have been told, don’t be surprised if A-Train ends up in NYC.
