Redskins’ Running Back Situation

Posted By Mercedes Green On Jun 3 2010 @ 1:40 pm In Washington Redskins | No Comments

The Redskins are still interested in RB Brian Westbrook, formerly of the Eagles and brother of Redskin CB Byron Westbrook.  Mike Shanahan was asked yesterday about the status of the Westbrook trade and here’s what he had to say:  “No, but if you guys hear anything, just tell him that we’re ready,” Shanahan said. ”We want him to sign with us. Like I said, it would be some great competition. I really like Brian, what he has done, how he handles himself. I’m sure he’s weighing some options. It’s not too far away from home. Anymore I can do?”

So where does that leave the existing RBs?  According to nfl.com, Kyle Shanahan has “given the nod” to Clinton Portis to start, leaving Larry Johnson and Willie Parker to fight it out.

Will this all change if Westbrook heads to DC?
