Oiler fans will have no shortage of parties to crash on June 25, in celebration of their team’s first overall selection at the 2010 NHL Entry Draft in Los Angeles.
The Edmonton Oilers, along with ATB Financial and a list of other sponsors, will host a Heartland-of-Hockey-sized draft bash down at The Drug Store (Rexall Place) on Friday, July 25, inviting fans to witness the franchise’s historical moment.
Several Oilers will also be on-hand for a pre-draft BBQ (3:30 p.m. MST), including Sam Gagner, Ladislav Smid and Jeff Deslauriers. The 2010 NHL Entry Draft (5 p.m.) will be shown live on the video scoreboard until the conclusion of the draft’s first round. Fans Player interviews and a live satellite feed to the Oilers table at the Staple Centre will place fans in the front row of Oilers Draft HQ.
One hundred lucky members of Oilers Nation will also walk away with huge smiles on their faces and free jerseys of their team’s first overall selection on their backs. Nice touch!
The Oilers’ draft bash will cost you five bucks, with the proceeds going to the team’s Community Foundation for distribution to charities throughout the region. Tickets go on sale Friday, June 11 at 10 a.m. Check out edmontonoilers.com for more information.
If attending the team’s draft soiree doesn’t do the trick, why not update your passport and head down to LA LA Land to catch the moment in person. Many Edmonton fans will surely be wearing their Oilers’ pride on their sleeves in L.A. June 25, refusing to watch the landmark moment on television.
So get ready to party L.A. – Oilers fans will certainly be the mood to celebrate like it’s, well, 19-99!
In the meantime Oiler fans, keep your chins up and your sticks down.
