JJ stings Rays, as Marlins take 2 of 3

In a season that has been thus far a disappointment, Josh Johnson continues to look like a sure candidate for the N.L. Cy Young this year as he again took the mound and baffled the opposition, this time he got the best of the A.L. co-division leaders and in-state rivals, the Tampa Bay Rays.
It’s nice to see that Josh Johnson will not become the next Zane Smith and only have success against my team, the New York Mets. The latest gem against the Rays in which he pitched 8 innings, yielding 6 hits and 1 run propelled his record to 8-2, and 7 consecutive wins. Johnson started off the season slow going 1-2 in his first 4 starts but its getting crystal clear with every start that he is the real deal and should bolster this Marlins rotation for a long time or at least as long as the front office will pay him for.
Johnson’s one blemish came in the 4th inning when he served up a golfer ball to Rays LF Carl Crawford ( Soon to be Yankee in 2011). He struck out 9 and walked nada.
Where would the Marlins be without this guy? In an N.L. East that is quickly fading to the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets, the Fish would not even be in sight if Johnson has not been so untouchable. They currently reside at 33-36 good enough for 4th place in the division and 8.5 games out of first place following the 2/3 series win against the Rays.
If the team has any chance of staying in the race and not being a seller by the All-Star Break, Johnson is going to have to lobby to his team for some help. Help with the bats, help in the rotation and help from the rest of the division!
