Here’s a quick hit. I’ve been traveling over the past week and am backlogged with a write-up about the Byfuglien trade AND the Craig Ramsey hire. I’m sure most of you have heard about that stuff but very soon I will post my take so you can understand the trade from the Thrashers pespective.
For now, I’ll offer my quick take on Rick Dudley’s #8 overall choice of Russian center Alexander Burmistrov:
Dudley did exactly what we wanted him to do: Draft high-end offensive talent for the depth chart. Alexander Burmistrov is committed to the NHL, and has stated he prefers to play the North American game. He’s got tons of speed, a great shot, and the russian finesse that we knew and loved with Ilya Kovalchuk.
In a couple of years we could have a dynamic offensive player that can find new ways to dictate the pace every shift. I’m very excited to see Burmistrov wear the Thrashers sweater in a couple of seasons.
Excellent choice for Dudley given the conditions of the pool remaining at the #8 spot.
I should have more Thrashers news up in the next 24 hours.
