The Alouettes kick off the 2010 CFL season on Canada day facing the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the rematch of last season’s Grey Cup matchup in which the Alouettes came up victorious. For the people that missed that game, I will post a link to video highlights at the end of the article.
Not many surprises in the Alouettes roster, but the injury bug seems to be in the air. Coach Trestman confirmed that Mark Estelle will miss the season opener due to injury. Just a reminder that backup QB Adrian McPherson is on the 9 game injured reserve list.
The batttle for the Kick Returner Position seems like it will extend to the regular season. Tim Maypray, Brian Bratton, De’Audre Dix and Diamond Ferri are expected to split the special team duties in Saskatchewan.
In the pre-season games, the Alouettes seemed like they will continue where they left off last year. On the other hand, the Grey Cup runner ups seem like they have many unanswered questions. According to the PSB Riders blogger Terry Beisick, Riders fans threw the towel for the 2010 season already! The fans in Montreal (including myself) have high expectations of the Alouettes and expect them to head to the Grey Cup once again.
The Alouettes will leave Saskatchewan with a win in their pocket and we will be saying that in regards to the Alouettes all season long.
Come back on www.prosportsblogging.com on Canada Day at 7PM ET, as I may be potentially blogging live during the game.
