Sharks Draft Recap

Posted By Marvin Miller On Jun 30 2010 @ 9:16 am In San Jose Sharks | No Comments

Sharks did well drafting five right-handed shooting forwards, including four scorers. Charley Coyle (first rounder) at 6’2 and 202 is the highest player ever picked from the EJHL. He will play for a great hockey program at Boston University this year.

Max Gaede (third rounder) has power forward potential and was highly sought after by the Edmonton Oil Kings. He will play for the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL next season, before heading to Minnesota State the following year.

Sharks then picked a trio of fifth rounders Cody Ferriero, Freddie Hamilton and Isaac MacLeod will take a few years to develop. Hamilton was the former first pick of the Niagara Ice Dogs of the OHL. MacLeod is a 6’4″ defenceman playing for the Penticton Vees.

Chris Crane the seventh rounder is a tough guy.

When you have the kind of regular season success that the Sharks did, the best they can do is build depth and hopefully hit a home run or two in the process.
