Speculations have been running wild as the lease agreement with the city of Detroit and the now famed Joe Louis Arena ended. However the mayor of Detroit as well as the City agreed upon a new lease that will keep Detroit in the Joe.
Joe Louis Arena opened in 1979 after the Wings moved from the famous Detroit Olympia.
Not much more has been said on this other then Detroit has recently contemplated weather to build a new arena or play at the Palace of Auburn Hills which is home to the Detroit Pistons of the NBA. Only Edmonton has an older arena then Detroit, maybe its time for a change.
