Q1 15:00- The CFL season is underway in hot and humid Saskatchewan! Enjoy the game everybody.
Q1 14:32 – Not the start that AC was hoping for
Q1 12:28- Saskatchewan capitalizes on the turnover by kicking a FG and take a 3-0 lead
Q1 7:30- The running game seems better then the passing game to start off the game.
Q1 6:45- And just like that; a 39-yard TD pass from AC to Watkins to give the Als a 7-3 lead.
Q1 4:18- After a blocked punt attempt , another 48-yard TD pass to S.J. Green and the Als take a 14-3 lead. The crowd in Saskatchewan is quiet.
Q1 1:10- Crowd does not like that non-call but it was a close one
Q1 0:00- Calvillo 5/6 104 YDS, 2 TD, 1 INT. Not a bad start and a great recovery after throwing an INT and getting sacked on the first 2 offensive snaps of the Alouettes
Q2 12:37- The referees need some time to get their act together too
Q2 12:14- I am not sure why they accepted the penalty if that was the play they would call next
Q2 11:40- Big 57-yard run by Wes Cates followed by Durant and the Als lead now cut to 14-10
Q2 9:30- Ricky Santos makes his first appearance of the season
Q2 6:08- Kerry Watkins with his 2nd TD catch of the game and the Als lead 21-10. Calvillo has been perfect since throwing an INT on his first pass of the season. That was Calvillo’s 300th career TD pass with the Alouettes
Q2 1:45 – Damon Duval kicks his FG of the season and the Als now lead by 2 TDs
Q2 1:00- Riders putting a good drive together in the last minute of the half
Q2 0:35 – Oh well, that didn’t last too long
Halftime analysis: The Alouettes first play of the season was an INT and on the second offensive play of their season, Calvillo got sacked. After their first 2 drives, Anthony Calvillo and the Alouettes stepped it up and have dominated the game since. Kerry Watkins had 2 TDs in this game so far. Calvillo’s stats at the half: 14/17 228-YDS, 3 TD, 1 INT. Last year’s Als seem to be back!
Q3 12:34- Ricky Santos successful on all 3 short yard plays
Q3 9:46- Duval misses a 46-yard FG attempt. He has a 50% success rate this season
Q3 8:33- The referee made the right call after reviewing that play. The Riders concede the safety and the Als now lead 26-10
Q3 7:26- Wow ! I’m surprised with that call! Duval concedes the safety and the Als now lead by 2 TDs once again.
Q3 4:46- What a way for Maypray to make up for him tripping in his last kic return attempt. 122-yard missed FG return for a TD and the Als now leading 33-12
Q3 2:56 – Durant throws a 46-yard pass to Rodriguez for a TD and the Riders now down by 2 possessions.
Q3 0:16- Great passing play from Durant to Bagg and Saskatchewan is back in this game. They trail 33-26. The crowd in Mosaic Stadium is back in it and are loud!
Q4 14:51- Calvillo did a good job to holding on to that ball on that play
Q4 10:36 – The Riders have total momentum in this game as they have just scored 21 unanswered points to tie the game at 33.
Q4 3:29- After a good pass interference call against the Riders, Cobourne runs the ball in to give the Als a 7 point lead. The end of the game seems promising.
Q4 2:54- Nice catch by Getzlaf and the Riders are in scoring position at the 3 minute warning
Q4 1:25- Big 1st down by the Riders to keep the drive alive and to have any chance of tying this game
Q4 0:42- After the play is reviewed, a TD is awarded to the Riders and this game is tied at 40 with under 1 minute remaining in the 4th quarter
Q4 0:00- AC throws the ball out of bounds and this game will go into OT. What a game to kick off the 2010 CFL season!
OT- Durant passes to Fantuz for the TD in OT and the 2 point convert is successful and the Als must score a TD and convert in order for the game to continue
OT- What a catch by Ben Cahoon !
OT- Als must convert a 1st down for them to stay alive
OT- Too many men on the field for the Riders and it is a 1st down! Do you believe this?
OT- Touchdown Alouettes and they must convert the next play for the game to continue
OT- What a catch ! This play will be reviewed but I believe that the ruling on the field will stand !
OT- I can’t believe this happened again to the Riders……
OT-Duval kicks a FG to give the Als a 51-48 lead. The Riders must score a TD to win, and a FG to tie.
OT- What a catch and this is not looking good for the Als
OT- Riders score and win 54-51 . What a game to kick off the CFL season on Canada Day !
