Lebron To Heat Voices Too Loud to Ignore

The voices are deafening. Knick fans are trying today not to hear them. Oh boy, are they trying. But, like a crying child, you can only ignore the voices for so long. All reports today have Lebron James going to the Miami Heat and never have the indications been so loud.
Newsday’s Alan Hahn wrote that multiple sources are telling him that the Heat deal is done. Newsday, by the way, is owned by Cablevision. Cablevision also owns the Knicks. We’re not saying that Newsday wouldn’t print the story because of this, just that maybe they wouldn’t print the story if they weren’t 100% sure of its legitimacy.
Steven A. Smith and ESPN’s Chris Brousard have been on the Miami story for days. So has Chad Ford. That’s four prominent NBA insiders (Hahn, Smith, Brousard, Ford) saying the exact same thing. The chance of all four of them being dead wrong does exist, but can a non-biased argument be made that those chances are all that good?
Here’s what’s come out today favoring the Knicks. ESPN’s Chris Sheridan said on New York ’s 1050 ESPN that people in Lebron’s camp have concerns about Miami . That makes sense. But then there’s the Yahoo! report that says Lebron’s people are “calling free agents to investigate their interest in strengthening Miami ’s roster.”
Hard to figure who’s right, but it goes back to the fact that the Miami voices may be too loud to ignore.
The biggest issue with him going to the Heat would be this – does Lebron have enough respect for the league to make sure it doesn’t turn it into a virtual monopoly over the next 10 – 15 years. A lot of non – Miami fans may be really turned off to the whole “big three” thing, hurting the image of both LBJ and the league. Does he care about this or just winning championships? Unfortunately for Knick fans, either answer would be understandable.
So try as you might to ignore the barrage of pro – Miami reports coming out, it is becoming increasingly difficult. Sometimes, voices are loud because those behind them seek attention. Sometimes, voices are loud because they are right.
