With an Eye for the Future!!!

It is easy to see that Dale Tallon has a long term plan as opposed to a quick fix program. Drafting 13 players including three first rounders and trading for two more first rounders adds plenty of skill and potential and size as well.
Tallon also sent a strong message by emailing every player and asking him who wanted to be here and who did not… and he shipped out the one who did not want to be here… good riddance to Horton…
There are plenty of questions to be answered… the first one is where is the scoring going to come from? With a top six of Stephen Weiss, Cory Stillman, Steve Bernier, Michael Frolik, David Booth, Michael Grabner and perhaps a rejuvenated Chris Higgins, will there be enough goals to win enough games?
The good news is that there is still $9 – $10 million of cap space, depending on whether Eric Gudbranson makes the team or not, to add a scorer or two. It’s a good thing that Tallon is not just taking whatever high-priced free agent that is available… and that he is taking the long term approach to building a team like he did in Chicago.
Training camp will be interesting to watch as players vie for their place in the pecking order. Peter De Boer is very good with young kids, and he will need to be in the next few years.
