Early Season Disappointments: Esks Start Season 0-2

The Eskimos move to 0-2 with Sundays 32-23 lose to the Montreal Alouettes. For a recap of the game click here [1].

They not only start the season 0-2 but they have scored the least amount of points in league with only 33. The blame for this lack of offence can be spread around. Rickey Ray is sitting 5th in passing which far from first place where he has grown a custom of  sitting. Kelly Campbell and Fred Stamps both dropped sure touchdowns that would have out the game away on Sunday. Those weren’t the only drops, but they were the worst. Others stalled drives that had taken then down the field to the red zone. Because of those, they had to settle for 3 field goals in the second instead of touchdowns. A message that this would not be tolerated was delivered this week with the releasing of WR Efrem Hill.

There are positives though. WR Kelly Campbell is on top of the receiving charts and RB Arkee Whitlock was second in rushing coming into the week.

So why with a top Receiver and Running back is this Offence struggling? Thats the question all Eskimos fans are asking.

They go into Riderville tomorrow on the NFL Network in the U.S. and on TSN here in Canada. The Riders have shown to be the best team in the CFL so far so the Esks will have it tough.

Prediction: The Esks might find the strength to win but it’s unlikely in my book. 31-17  Riders
