Report: Knicks in Fernandez Mix

Posted By Jordan Lauterbach On Jul 28 2010 @ 5:30 pm In New York Knicks | No Comments

From Realgm.com:

The Bulls, Celtics and Knicks have engaged in trade talks with the Blazers regarding swingman Rudy Fernandez, according to a report.

The Knicks have coveted Fernandez for a long time. The shooting guard played in only 62 games last season, averaging a little over 8 points and 2 assists per game. One would think Wilson Chandler would have to be in that deal.

The same issues arise with Fernandez that arose with Chris Paul. A lot of the Knicks roster is untradeable. Felton can’t be traded until December. The Golden State trio can only be traded separately until December. Past that, the players the Knicks would think about trading for a player like Fernandez is small, if not minuscule.  Maybe Toney Douglas? Even that might be a tough sell because of the hole it would leave at point guard.  For a team with a small batch of trading options, it would be surprising if Rudy Fernandez is in the cards.
