Sacramento Kings Need Shooters

The 2010-2011 Sacramento Kings have the deepest front court in the entire association. They have one of the most dynamic young floor generals. What they DON’T have is anyone to shoot from the perimeter. Consider this potential starting lineup:

C – Samuel Dalembert
F – DeMarcus Cousins
F – Carl Landry
G – Tyreke Evans
G – Antoine Wright???

That’s correct, the former 15th overall pick of the New Jersey Nets is the new shooting guard for the Kings. I wouldn’t mind if he were a backup, but as of today, he is the best of a thin talent pool. Sacramento could try and move Omri Casspi to that spot, but in a league where Dwayne Wade, Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, Brandon Roy, Joe Johnson and OJ Mayo are just a few of the league’s dynamic two guards, Casspi would be over matched nightly. Another option would be to move Tyreke Evans to the shooting spot and start Beno Udrih as the point. The problem is this takes away the depth of the lead guard position.

Hopefully Head Coach Paul Westphal decides to continue with his up-tempo philosophy and just put the five best players regardless of position out on the court. Unless the Kings can make a trade before or during the season, shooting guard will be the area of need come draft time.
