Rollin, Rollin, Rollin…

The Padres have won nine out of their last ten games and have been roll-in over their opponents.  Right now the Padres and their fans have to be thinking no team can stand in their way.  They can beat up on the not so good teams and compete with the best teams in the N.L.  They go into every series thinking they can win it.  With Kevin Correia’s last win he became the fourth Padre pitcher with ten wins this season, the first time the Padres have done this since 2004.  Although in 2004 two of those four pitchers with ten wins also had fourteen loses(Brian Lawrence and Adam Eaton), so this years group has been a lot more impressive.  Not only do the padres have four pitchers with ten wins, at this pace they could end up with four pitchers with twelve wins at the end of the season.  Along with their fifth starter Le Blanc now with seven wins, could come close to being the fifth starter with double digit wins this year.  The Padres have a very even and consistent staff all around.  In this case there will be some decisions to make later in the year.  Looking ahead to the playoffs(because it’s fun to do) the Padres will have to pick probably their top three pitchers to start in a playoff series.  The top two would be Latos and Garland the easy decisions, then the hard one picking between Correia the ace of last years staff and the solid young lefty Richard.  Two months ago Richard was clearly throwing better then Correia, but Correia has really pitched well as of late.  I would think that Correia would get the nod being the veteran pitcher and having pitched in bigger situations.  Although Correia has had experience coming out of the bullpen with the Giants.  It will probably come down to match-ups and maybe depending on the the team the padres play and the amount of righties or lefties in their line-up.  The Padres now have 72 wins and could easily end up with 90 plus wins on the season, quite impressive for the low budget squad.
