Catch me if you can

The padres have had two very impressive wins over the Diamondbacks in as many days.  With the Giants loss last night this now puts the Padres at a season high 6.5 game lead in the N.L. West.  The Padres have 76 wins now one more win the the season total of last season.  The Padres have the best record in the N.L. and the third best record in baseball behind the Yankees and Rays.  The Padres look to be in a very good position and I couldn’t be more pleased with the way that they are playing.  Now  is not the time to falter, the Giants are still battling.  After being shutout by the Cardinals Jaime Garcia on Sunday the Giants have scored 38 runs in a three game series against the Reds.  They are starting to hitwith slugger Pablo Sandoval getting hot  in His last three games(10 for 16  7 RBI).  If Lincecum turns it around and the Giants continue to hit it will come down to the wire for the N.L. West title.  The Padres have two more series against the Giants this year, a four game series at home September 9-12.  I will be at the series finale on Sunday.  Then a three games series in San Francisco in October to end the season.  These two series will obviously be huge and could decide the division.  Who would have thunk it when the schedules were made that the series in San Francisco in October could mean so much.

The middle of the Padres order has been mighty impressive since the trade deadline.  Tejada, Gonzalez, and Ludwick really make the Padres line-up look like a playoff team.  The trade deadline aquasitions are playing very well thus making Jed Hoyer look like a genius in his first season as the Padres G.M.

Side note- Heath Bell 5-0 with a 1.84 E.R.A and 37 saves.  Didn’t originally get voted in on the All-star team!
