Every day when I wake up, whether its 7am or 2pm, I check the NBA rumors on ESPN.com. Through out the summer it seemed like at least once a week, there was a “Tony Parker to New York” rumor. It’s starting to piss me off. It doesn’t help that his wife is saying that he wants to live in New York, then saying she couldn’t imagine living anywhere but San Antonio.
The obvious way to stop the rumors is for Tony to sign an extension now. But wait Spurs fans, ask yourselves this, do the Spurs need him? Take a moment. My guess is you’re all just about split down the middle on this, that’s why I’m here and guess what……………. it doesn’t matter.
I like Tony Parker, i’m not trying to start a “trade TP rally”.
Tony is a top 5 NBA point guard but his own teammates told him that they play better without him and it’s true. The ball tends to move better without him. The Spurs can’t just let him walk away after the though. If Tony is going to leave, it has to be via trade if the Spurs are to remain contenders.
There are deals out there whether it’s with one or multiple teams involved. In my opinion, I think the Spurs need a starting shooting guard so Manu can keep coming off the bench and can run with Richard Jefferson. Someone like Andre Igoudala, Monta Ellis or Tayshaun Prince. I wanted to put J.R. Smith in this but he has to many character issues. Another option is too wait until December 15th when Jefferson’s trade restriction is lifts. Any free agent that signs with a team can not be traded for three months or until December 15th which ever is later. The Spurs can wait and see how the season is going and how well Jefferson is playing and decide whether or not they want to package him and Tony.
I would hate to see Tony leave but if he doesn’t want to be here, then a trade is whats best for everyone.
If Tony stays, that fine with me too.
