The biggest news of the game is QB Donovan McNabb out with a sprained ankle, which he suffered last week against the Ravens. This is the thing with preseason. Playing starters in a mix of rookies and testing plays against other teams in the same situation. There’s apt to be injuries before the season even starts. McNabb may not see a snap until regular season.
“The chances of Donovan playing in the Arizona game are very slim,” Shanahan said. “I haven’t done it in a long time, playing [a starting quarterback] in the fourth game, for obvious reasons if there is an injury. So, chances are we wouldn’t go in that direction, but I can’t say 100 percent at this time.”
All eyes will be on RB Willie Parker as he attempts to impress after Portis and Johnson ran the first 2 games. QB Rex Grossman will get the start for injured Donavan McNabb and the competition for 3rd string QB will be evident between John Beck and Richard Bartel. One other interesting tweet this week from #RedskinsDotCom is that Albert Haynesworth will be starting in both Nose Tackle and Defensive End.
The Redskins travel to New Meadowlands Stadium tonight at 7PM to meet the New York Jets, who’s defense was rated #1 last year. This will be another test for the newly emerging offensive line. On second thought, maybe it’s a good thing that McNabb isn’t starting…
About the Author
Written by Mercedes Green
I lived in Greene County Virginia for about 5 years of my childhood. This span of time was enough to imprint the love of the Washington Redskins (and hate of the Dallas Cowboys) into my life forever, even though I am Canadian and still live in Canada. I am in no way an expert on sports, football, or even the Redskins, but I do absolutely adore them, their fans and their home state(s). My favourite Redskin is and will always be Darrell Green (not because we share the same last name lol). I've adored Chris Cooley since he joined the team from the 2004 draft and love London Fletcher. Hail to the Redskins! See you October 30th in my home town of Toronto.
