Tigers lose RB Washington and Top Defensive Player for Game 1 Against Illinois

The Missouri Tigers have announced that they have suspended  Derrick Washington indefinitely but wouldn’t say why.  When asked about why he suspended Washington coach Gary Pinkel responded, “I don’t talk about discipline issues” and left it at that.  The suspicion is that the suspension has something to do with the sexual assault accusations brought about by a 20 year old woman from Columbia Missouri who stated that Washington just walked into her room uninvited and “unprovoked” and “sexually assaulted her.”  A court hearing was scheduled for the 21st of July which neither the woman, who was not named, nor Washington appeared at.

Will Ebner will also be missing at least the 1st game of the season against the Fighting Illini following his arrest early Sunday morning, August 22nd.  Ebner was the Tigers 3rd leading tackler in 2009 and was widely considered one of the top LBers in the big 12 and considered the top defensive player on the Tigers who are digging themselves a hole against the Illinois Fighting Illini without even taking a snap by losing 2 of their starting players.
Additionally the Tigers had a a scare yesturday when Senior Cornerback Munir Prince had to be rushed to the hospital after taking a blindside hit on a punt return.  Prince was knocked unconsious for several moments and had no feeling in his upper or lower body luckily he retained the feeling in his upper and lower body not long after getting to the hospital.  He was diagnosed with transient quadriplegia, which is a temporary loss of sensation and movement in the upper and lower extremities.  He is expected to make a full recovery, no word on whether he may miss the Illinois game on September 4th at the Edward Jones Dome in downtown St. Louis, and home of the St. Louis Rams and Sam Bradford.

On a Big 12 note on Thursday night the St. Louis Rams rookie QB Sam Bradford, from the University of Oklahoma, made his first Professional start against the New England Patriots and Tom Brady.  Sam Bradford was brilliant as he completed his first 6 passes of the game.  He would go on to be 15 of 22 for 189 yards and 2 TD’s in a half of football leading the Rams to a 20-14 halftime lead over the  Patriots who played their entire first team offense and defense for 3 quarters of football.  I fully expect Bradford to get the start in Game 4 at home at the dome and if he does well he may be the opening day starter for the Rams when they play the old St. Louis football team the Arizona Cardinals.
