- The Jets released veteran receiver Laveranues Coles today during a round of roster cuts. Coles was on his third go-round with the team and ranks fourth in Jets’ franchise history in receptions. It would have been a nice story had he been able to contribute to this team, butthe injuries he incurred over the years really took their toll on his quickness and speed. New York will go with Santonio Holmes, Braylon Edwards and Jerricho Cotchery as their three main receivers now.
- OLB Calvin Pace received bad news that the foot he initially thought he sprained on Friday night is instead broken and he will miss six weeks of action. Pace is the team’s best pass-rusher and his absence will be a big blow to a squad that is already missing superstar cornerback Darrelle Revis. Jason Taylor will now attempt to pick up the slack.
- The rumors are growing stronger that the Jets will sign free agent linebacker Adalius Thomas in light of the Pace injury. The 33 year old vet has a long history with Rex Ryan and can bring versatility to the lineup. His skills, however, may have diminished greatly at this point.
