I must confess I have been distracted the last couple of weeks watching the football program at UNC implode. Enough of that, as wipe that grin off my face, time to focus on the game of football! NCSU must win this year to restore football prominence at the school. No excuses this time just produce wins!
If you made a list of all the known facts about this State team you would see the list is short. The Pack needs to prove they are serious about football again in Raleigh because the road ahead could become bumpy and FAST. Their schedule starts slowly but quickly they can expect to be tested every week. Most of all Tom O’Brien needs to prove that moving from Boston College to NCSU was not a mistake. Pack fans have not been convinced so far. If O’Brien does not have a winning season this year, he might as well schedule the moving van for December. Based on what I have heard from the faithful in Raleigh this guy is out if he does not produce this season.
As with all the teams O’Brien has had at State, there are still a lot of questions about this team that cannot be answered until the first snap. With a new athletic director at the helm, O’Brien cannot expect to stick around Raleigh without some concrete results this year. But no pressure Tom, it just your job on the line! It is time to man up and produce. There has to have been times he has asked himself why he left Boston College. His teams at State have been inconsistent and lackluster especially when you compare them to the results he garnered up north. The only thing I know for sure is that I am ready for some football. I cannot wait to hear the crack of hits from that Wolfpack defense. Go Pack!
Early season keys for the Pack:
The return of Nate Irving to the defense~who missed last year due to a car accident, his supporting cast is young, but if he performs to his abilities he will provide them with a much needed leader on defense.
