The Alouettes miss Calvillo

Chris Leak’s first career start in the CFL will be one that he will want to forget as the Lions walked all over the Alouettes 38 to 17. Leak completed only 15 out of his 27 passes for a total of 135 yards, 2 TD, and fumbled the ball once. The Lions scored on all 3 turnovers on their way to win their 2nd win of the season. Ricky Santos replaced Leak in the 3rd quarter and looked sharp completing 10 of 12 passing attempts and throwing 2 TD passes. Kepp in mind that Leak looked sharp when he replaced Calvillo 2 weeks ago against the Bluebombers.

The game against the Lions was evidence that the Alouettes and their fans should be grateful to have a QB like AC in their lineup. The question for Jim Popp and the coaching staff in the upcoming week will be to select their starting QB if Calvillo isn’t ready. Chris Leak did not play a game that merits another start, therefore if I were a betting man, I would bet that MacPherson will be the starter next week. MacPherson is eligible to return next Saturday when the Alouettes face the Tigercats.

We miss you AC!
