OK, summer is officially over. Right now, many of you are sitting at your desk pretending to be busy, whether it be at work or school. We all know the story. It’s about attention deflection until 5, isn’t it? Luckily, your trust Notre Dame blogger friend is here to help. Only four more days until the Irish take on Michigan. Here’s some reading from around the web to help pass the time…

Freshman Carlo Calebrese makes the most of his unlikely opportunity against Purdue- South Bend Tribune [1]

The enemy has some high praise for a current undefeated ND head man – Detroit News [2]

*Post reading note: Let’s calm down with the Ara and Frank comparisons for a moment….he beat Purdue….

The Irish were ratings gold for NBC on Saturday (I wonder if Mike Mayock had anything to do with it).- USA Today [3]

A reader commented on my Mayock praise on Saturday, saying he felt like he was watching the NFL draft combine at points. I can see the point. Maybe my praise of Mayock had more to do with my dislike of Pat Hayden then anything else. Still, as long as Mayock doesn’t go crazy with “vertical leap” analysis he’ll be fine.

Everyone loves Irish football, even Taylor Swift - [4] Detroit News

On this date in ND football history-

1923: Emil “Six Yard” Sitko, great Notre Dame back of the late 1940s, was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was a key figure in Leahy’s post-war teams. Like Leon Hart, he never played in a losing game in his career under the Dome. He was a consensus All-American who won the Walter Camp Trophy as the outstanding college player. For his career, he 363 times for 2,226 yards and 26 touchdowns and caught 16 passes for 188 yards. He returned seven kickoffs for 217 yards and one punt for 23 yards. His career total was 2,654 yards- courtesy irishlegends.com

Enjoy Tuesday. 4 more days until Michigan
