Taylor Hall’s in good company.
Kevin Lowe wore it, as did Bobby Orr, his agent, and now Taylor Hall will proudly wear “#4″ on the back of his Edmonton Oilers’ jersey.
You know you’re in starving for a story when we’re talking about a player’s jersey number! Nonetheless, the move is a classy one by current Edmonton CEO of Hockey Ops, Kevin Lowe, who could have maintained the number, which undoubtedly will be retired by the Oilers’ one day, as the club’s first-ever draft choice.
Too much emotion riding on that decision to think it won’t happen.
Nonetheless, Hall will carry his junior number into the NHL, thanks to Lowe’s unselfish decision to hand over the number, something he didn’t have to do.
Hall and other Edmonton rookies will report to the team’s rookie training camp, which kicks off this Friday.
The Oilers also announced that Jordan Eberle will wear #14 with Swedish prospect Magnus Paajarvi taking #91.
The tangible hockey updates, things Oilers Nation can sink their teeth into, are just around the corner, as the club formally begins to move its plans from paper to the ice.
