All of the questions all of us have been asking are going to start to be answered today. How will the Broncos measure up? Will they be the team fans hope them to be, or will they break the Orange and Blue hearts? It’s a transition year, everyone knows it, everyone says it, but will it be a positive one or a negative one?
A win is very important for the Broncos on this opening day. It’s early in the season and while losing wouldn’t ruin the teams’ hopes, it would cast more doubt on the choices Coach Josh McDaniels has been making. It is a chance for the coach to prove that he’s worth it, and a chance for the team to really prove they are a good team. The predictions for the Broncos have been grim. 7-9 being among the highest, while 5-11 being around the lowest. While both of these could happen, I’m guessing an 8-8 but will be pleased if I’m wrong and it’s 9-5 or better.
The never-ending coverage of Tim Tebow overshadows the rest of the team and the hard work they have been putting in. Still, what matters is how they do on this very hot Florida day. If Tebow plays it will be big news to see how he does, but what I am more interested in is how Orton does on this opener. He looks better on the field and while he might not be the name everyone thinks of when they think of the Broncos right now, he is the man behind the ball at the first Bronco’s snaps.
Passing or Rushing? I expect to see a little bit of both, as everyone says ‘this is a passing league,’ but that doesn’t mean the rushing isn’t important. Perhaps the rushing will shine through today … even though it seems like every running back in the league tried out here!
Will the Broncos pull off a win today? We’ll find out in a couple of hours. I’m going with the Broncos win it 24-17.
