Iowa State 7, Iowa 35
Iowa v. Iowa State the game that decides who get the bragging rights for the years on who has a better football team in the state. Iowa or Iowa State, well heading into them game both teams coming off wins in the first week, you would think it would be a toss up but it wasn’t. The game itself was pretty much decided by half time.
Iowa dominated the game from the first possession marching again a opening drive touchdown, and that was only the beginning the scored 4 TD’s in the first half. Their defense pretty much dominated the Iowa State defense. The Hawks showed the Cyclones running game who was boss, and who house they were in, holding the cyclones to only 31 rushing yards in the first half. It seems only good thing that came out of the first half for Iowa State, is that they did not throw an interception. The defense struggle to keep up with the Hawkeye offense.
Alexander Robinson had just 48 yards rushing for Iowa State, unlike last week racking up 97 yards in the 27-10 win over Northern Illinois. But the Cyclones had no answer for the Hawkeyes on either side of the ball once again, with just 275 yards in total offense versus Iowa’s 479 yards in offense.
The second half did not get any better for the cyclones. The offense really couldn’t get anything going at all, Iowa State’s quarter back Austen Arnaud threw 3 interceptions in the third quarter . It was until late in the forth quarter, when the cyclones finally got on the board with Austen Arnaud’s 8-yard TD pass to Darius Darks with 1:51 left in the game. It was the first TD Iowa State score against Iowa since 2006.
Overall, Iowa was dominate through out the entire game and showed they have the tools, in my opinion to win a national championship. I think this may be their year to do if they keep playing like they did against Iowa State and dominate on both sides of the football. This years game between Iowa and Iowa State was pretty much the same as last years, the only exception is that Iowa let Iowa State score a Touchdown rather than a field goal. The only thing I have to say is better look next year Cyclones fans for a win against the Hawks, that is if Norm Parker isn’t around as Iowa’s defensive coordinator.
