After two games its probably safe to say, the Longhorns are not a first quarter team. In week one, Rice held a 3-0 lead going into the second quarter mostly due to the Longhorns comitment to establish the run game.
Last night, in their home opener, the Longhorns again showed a comitment to the run game early. The only difference is that UT held a 3-0 lead going into the second period, thanks to a 45 yard field goal.
The first half of the second quarter started slow again. Another Justin Tucker field goal from 36 yards out. Two and half minutes later, Wyoming put together a good drive capped off by a 19 yard touchdown run by their quarter back Austyn Carta-Samuels (cool name right?) giving the Cowboys the 7-6 lead. At this point I was wondering if this could put Wyoming in the top 25 or not. 2minutes later th comitment to run game pays off. Fozwhit (Fozzy) Whittaker ran 39 yards and broke three takles to give UT the lead. Before the end of the half Garrett Gilbert showed us his accurate and rocket arm, throwing a bullet to his new best friend mike davis who turned back to the sideline and ran 45 yards to the house breaking the spirit of Wyoming. The defence dominated the second half with the Acho brothers and Jeffcoat getting godd pressure on Austyn Carta-Samuels. UT did put together a couple of nice drive that finished with a two and a one yard touchdown runs by Cody Johnson.
Overall struggles to get rolling but has the ability to put points on the board in a hurry.
Up next, Texas Tech on the road.
