The Denard Robinson Heisman Watch is now underway. Robinson followed up he record setting season opener with a sensational performance aganist Notre Dame. Robinson rushed for 258 yards and 2 touchdowns, while throwing for 244 yards and one touchdown. His final run of the day was the difference when he scored from 2 yards out to give the Wolverines a 28-24 lead. The Michigan defense held on after a late hit penalty gave Notre Dame a couple of chances at the end zone, but Dane Crist’s final pass sailed out of the back of the endzone as time expired.
Michigan goes to 2-0 and is off to the start that head coach Rich Rodriguez needed. His defense has held up well against two decent offenses so far this year. They will only continue to get better as their confidence grows. But the real story is Robinson. He has solidified the Michigan offense and given them a weapon that they didn’t even know they had. Remember, a starter wasn’t even named until the night before the season opener. Now, there is no doubt that Robinson is the starter and the star of the young college football season.
Next up for the Wolverines is a home date with UMass.
