The Falcons offense seemed to lack the spark fans were expecting. The running game clearly struggled. Turner ran for only 42 yards on 19 carries in Sunday’s overtime loss at Pittsburgh. Matt Ryan made some nice throws, but we weren’t able to put up any touchdowns, only field goals.
Ryan finally made a mistake in the end of the fourth quarter when he threw a pick to Troy Polamalu. That play set up the Steelers to kick a field goal and win the game, but Reed missed the kick and the game went into overtime. The Falcons then let up a fifty yard run from Rashard Mendenhall, causing the Falcons to get their first lost.
The Steelers played a good game, even though they were missing their starting quarterback. Falcon’s fans shouldn’t worry too much yet. The Steelers have an extremely good defense and it is rare to see them give up a lot of rushing yards, especially when they are at home. If Turner can start to get it going, the team should be in good shape in the weeks to come.
