Redskins Conquer Cowboys – Fans Rejoice

Let me first start by expressing how all Redskins fans probably feel this morning.  It’s kind of like a super bowl win already and it’s only week 1.  Last night’s win against the Dallas Cowboys, when every commentator, every spread, everyone had the Skins losing, was the epitome of pure Redskins-Cowboys football.  I was approaching cardiac arrest for the last 2 minutes.

The Redskins also donned their new uniforms.  Burgundy tops with gold pants.

Dallas got first possession and their offense looked sharp.  Our D, on the other hand, against the run was not so good, but they manage to keep Dallas to a punt.  The Redskins offense looked good, great protection, with McNabb taking a run for a 1st down.  The Redskins get into the redzone, but have to settle for a field goal.  3-0 Redskins.  This is the only points of the 1st quarter, even with Dallas getting the ball on the Redskin 12 yard line from a horrible personal foul call against London Fletcher.  This carries into the 2nd quarter, but more penalties against Dallas get them to 3rd and 14 on the 16 yard line, but their field goal attempt is no good!

One of the visuals that will be shown all over the league today I’m sure is Albert Haynesworth pacing on the sidelines, refusing to huddle with the rest of the defense on the sidelines.  A little temper tantrum from the big 300+ lb baby.  I’m done blogging about him.

With seconds left in the first half, pass to Cowboy’s Tashard Choice is fumbled and recovered by D’Angelo Hall who runs it back for a TD.  10-0 Redskins.

In the 3rd quarter, Washington is given several gifts.  The Redskins line up for a FG, but Dallas called offsides, giving Redskins the ball again.  2 incomplete passes later to Armstrong, in the end zone, brings up 4th and goal, another field goal attempt, bad snap, bad catch, therefore no FG.  Dallas manages a TD to bring score closer at 10-7.

In the 4th quarter, one of Dallas’ greats DeMarcus Ware is hit in the neck area and appeared in bad shape.  Turned out to be a neck sprain and he’s already commented that he’ll be playing next week.

1:55 left in the game.  Redskins go for a 49 yard field goal.  Gutsy, but it’s good.  13-7 Redskins.  Now comes the excitement.  30 seconds remaining in the game.  2 passes almost picked off by the Redskins, but manage a 1st down.  3 seconds remaining.  Tony Romo pass to Miles Austin is caught in the endzone at 0:00, however, a very clear and obvious hold against the Redskins nullifies the TD and the Redskins win.  Yes, the REDSKINS WIN.

This picture of Romo at the end of the game explains it all.

I am super, super excited to be attending next Sunday’s game against the Texans, who looked very sharp yesterday against the Colts.  Yet another test for Washington.
