Well surprisingly NCSU 28-21 win over Central Florida last Saturday night was one the few highlights in ACC Football last weekend. All the so called football powers in the ACC have shown to be lackluster at best of late. But let’s not celebrate the Pack too lavishly. Because the offense’s performance showed some big problems that hopefully are being addressed this week. In the second half of the game the offense looked sluggish and in fact went scoreless in the fourth quarter. Central Florida made a strong attempt to come back on the Pack in the second. So they really could have used a bolt of lightning from the offense to stall that attempt. Unfortunately, it seems to be same old problems with the offense. They totally rely on Russell Wilson to pull them through every time. And we are all savvy enough about football to know an unbalanced offense will stall in the long run.
On the upside, the defense’s performance seems to get better and better. The star of the evening in Florida was Audie Cole who is a defensive linebacker for the Pack. He constantly brought pressure to Central Florida quarterback providing a game changing performance for this win. Cole showed great tenacity throughout the evening. Before this night he was only known to the Wolfpack faithful. He was even elected defensive back of the week in conference this week. Welcome to the spotlight brother, your time has come and definitely deserve all this attention. One more shout out on defense to C.J. Wilson, who returned an interception for a touchdown that was absolutely beautiful!
State was lucky to escape Central Florida with a win. I will say it again, thank God for that Wolfpack defense! You guys totally rock, MUAH MUAH!! This is a short week because next up for the Pack is Cincinnati Thursday night in Raleigh. Yes are on television so come on Pack have a good outing!
