After watching his team get beat 24-3 at Alabama, JoePa’s main gripe with the Nittany Lions is that they are not being aggressive enough. They don’t believe that they’re in the right place to make a play and therein lies many of their problems.
Penn State has a bit of a breather this weekend with Kent State, followed by Temple, so it can make some adjustments and build confidence. Most troubling is the non-existent run game. Apparently Kent State played BC tough on the ground, so hopefully the PSU O-Line can get its act together. Evan Royster needs to step things up a bit too (again back to the aggressive play).
Paterno did state emphatically that Rob Bolden is THE quarterback, which is pretty amazing considering he wasn’t around for spring ball. If the offense can move as effortlessly as it seemed to at certain points against Alabama, AND HOLD ON TO THE BALL, they should fare well in the next two match ups.
