As most cities in America will be preparing for high school football, Hattiesburg, MS will be shutting down most of it’s games as the Kansas Jayhawks come into to town to play the Golden Eagles. With a prime-time game on ESPN most, if not all of college football will be watching to see how KU will look after defeating last week’s opponent Georgia Tech. Knowing the kind of environment that the team will be facing, I hope that Turner Gill has not let beating a weaker Tech team than most expected, go to his team’s head. Although Southern Miss. looked out classed opening night against South Carolina on national TV. They are now healthy and after beating Prairie View A&M they’ll be looking for some national redemption. Better believe that coach Fedora will have his team ready.
KU’s defense last Saturday looked really well against a triple option attack that is always hard to keep out of the endzone with only one week to get ready for. I expect that the D will be ready to go again on Friday. Now the real question is what will we see out of quarterback Jordan Webb? How will he react on his first hostile road game? Everyone knows one game doesn’t make a season, but a poised and calm Webb will be the difference tomorrow night.
